This year, the Summer Camp will be from July 21st to 23rd. Magnolia Summer Camp Donations
Every summer, our church partners with Magnolia School District's Project Homeless Education Renewing Opportunities (Project HERO) to share the love of Christ with young students identified as homeless through learning and fellowship opportunities at Magnolia Summer Camp.
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act defines homelessness as:
Anyone who lacks a regular, fixed, and adequate nighttime residence.
Sharing of housing due to economic struggles (doubled-up, tripled-up).
Anyone living in a shelter, hotel, or motel.
Any public place not designed for sleeping (cars, parks).
Unaccompanied youth.
Children or youth abandoned in hospitals.
Migrant children who qualify under any of the above.
Many young students in our surrounding community fall under one or more of these criteria. Magnolia Summer Camp therefore offers us the unique opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to nearby neighbors in need as we host them for three days at our church.
During our annual summer camp, we minister to around 50 students as we spend each day serving breakfast, facilitating lessons and activities, and taking them on outings to places like Boomers and Sky Zone. We are still accepting volunteer signups for anyone who's interested in serving during the camp. Click here to register as a volunteer.
If you want to contribute financially to this ministry, we are collecting donations that will be used to prepare gifts for the families of each attending student. These gifts will be presented to the families at the end the camp as our way of blessing them and sending them off with a tangible reminder of God's love and provision for them.
Feel free to give according to the listed gift tiers or give a different amount within the available range of any tier. The deadline to donate will be Wednesday July 16.
